- Rika - It would be hard to give a description of Yoosung's personality without mentioning his cousin, as before her death she was his main motivator for everything he did. He chose to pursue a veterinary medicine degree because she lost her dog. He got into working with charity by being inspired seeing Rika do it. After her death, grief and depression and loneliness hang over him oppressively and he uses escapism (becoming addicted to his MMORPG) as a coping mechanism.
- "A Real Puppy" - Yoosung gives off excited and earnest puppy energy a lot of the time, whether he's happy and playful or whining. He likes helping others, volunteering with charity, and protecting people. He's affectionate with friends, and brushes off most slights and is quick to forgive. Grudges are only held in response to people hurting the ones he loves. He idolizes and almost worships people who pay him a lot of attention and are kind to him (as seen with Rika first, and then MC later in canon).
- Gullible - The degree of Yoosung's gullibility is almost ridiculous. He's admitted to almost being inducted into a religious cult before, and being conned into buying things. His friends frequently prank him, and are able to get him to believe rather outrageous claims. He may not initially believe everything, but is easily convinced.
- "Stupid" - A common misconception, partially due to his gullibility and partially due to his lack of motivation to study. He rarely argues when someone makes that mistaken conclusion, though. But he has shown that when he actually applies himself, he's plenty smart. After all, in one of his canon endings, he does become a veterinarian.
- Romantic - Yoosung has admitted that he dreams of having a girlfriend, and his favorite movies are romantic movies, but he's never been in love or had a girlfriend before. He helped one of his friends make 1000 paper cranes once because his friend was in love and thought it would grant his wish to be the first to ask her out. He was touched by his friend's determination to do that, even if initially he thought he should do it all himself. When talking to MC he frequently discusses how he thinks he will make a good husband.
- "Bad End" - Though it's not something I'm particularly looking to explore in depth, I'd be remiss to not mention how each of Mystic Messenger's boys has a bad end where one of their negative traits is pulled to the forefront. For Yoosung, this is jealousy and possessiveness, and mental instability. When his jealousy is encouraged rather than gently discouraged, and he's allowed to compare MC too much to Rika so they blur together in his head, he goes into yandere mode.

Forget-me-not: Yoosung is very nurturing and affectionate, especially with those he loves. He tests his endurance often with long gaming sessions. He is currently dealing hard with grief from the death of his cousin. (He's also incredibly stubborn about forgiving her partner, whom he believes caused her death.)
Geranium: Within his game (and later outside it), Yoosung enjoys protecting others, and tries his best to comfort others. He has serious doubt about himself especially concerning his future, has grown melancholy after Rika's death, and is seen as being foolish due to his gullibility and childish behavior.
Hyacinth: Yoosung is always sincere, and he feels joy easily at times. However for negatives, he is in a current funk of sorrow, and is quick to feel jealous if the person he loves is not giving him the attention he wants.
